  1. It is not legal.

It might be legal in some areas to turn left on red from a one way street to another one way street.  Okay, the answer above says that too.  I thought I had seen signs about that somewhere.

  2. yes any left turn on a red light is illegal. everywhere. Trust i have gotten plenty of tickets...high insurance

  3. no it is not legal

  4. No, if you're crossing over into oncoming traffic(i.e. you're on a two way road) it's illegal. If you were in a one way and you wanted to turn left on a red on to another one way that was going to your left then that would be fine in many states.

  5. Turning left on a red light is illegal under any circumstace.

  6. A left turn at a red light is not legal.

In SOME places it's legal to make a right on red light if it's clear to do so. In other locations it's not.

  7. No, this is not legal.

In California, you are allowed to make a left turn on red if you are turning from a one-way street onto another one-way street (provided there's no sign or red arrow telling you not to).  You must be in the far left lane, stop before the limit line, and yield to pedestrians and cross-traffic before proceeding.  (21453 CVC)
