  1. Hey.. Ski lessons are available at most resorts through their ski school.. Once you get to the mountain, you can sign up for a lesson or a series of lessons.. Many hills have packages where you can buy a series of lessons for a cheaper price than if you paid individually.. Lessons are a good idea if you want to really get the basics down and need some one on one attention.. Private lessons are the most expensive but probably the most beneficial as far as learning techniques rapidly.. You may also choose a group lesson which is generally cheaper and may save you some money.. This tutorial covers basic skiing techniques.. Some of you are athletic and pick things up very quickly and just by practicing these you'll be able to be competent at beginning skiing.. Others of you may find that you'd benefit from some individual attention from a professional.. It kind of boils down to whether or not you feel it's worth it to spend the money to get the instruction.. By spending the money you'll be able to pick these techniques up quicker and hammer home the basics so that you can build a foundation for advanced skiing.. For some of you that may not be worth it.. You may just want to get out there and practice what you see here to get good at the basics.. If you're just a beginner, you're probably using the "snow plow" to slow down or stop.. This is wear your skis and feet are pointed in a triangle/ chevron/ pizza shape :)).. The snow plow will help you turn. When you're going down the hill, use your snow plow to slow, then bring your outside foot (e.g: left foot if you're turning right) towards your inside foot and move your skis and feet into a parallel location instead of snow plow.. Don't stay parallel too long though, or you'll go fast!.. Also, as a new skier, when turning and going down the hill, go from side to side, instead of trying to ski straight down.. Hope I helped :).

  2. If you want to be a better skier, take a series of lessons from a qualified professional instructor. When you get to your area, ask for a certified instructor, 1,2,or 3, before you go to your lesson, be certain the ski boots are tight around your foot and ankle. Rub some wax on your skiis and enjoy the lesson.  To turn, apply more pressure/weight onto the outside or downhill ski, edge that ski slightly so it will begin to travel in the new direction. Control your speed by shaping your turn in an "S" rather than a "Z" shape.  Try dancing with the snow and gravity, get a rhythm to your turns from one side to the other, keep your body between your skiis, stand tall and practice what your instructor teaches you.  Learn to stand on the big toe edge of either ski as you cross the hill, keep your hips over your boots and be flexible.

  4. to turn left lean right and put your right ski where it points right slightly

to turn right lean left and put your left ski where it points left slightly

MY MAIN ADVISE: PRACTICE AND LOTS OF LESSONS!!!

  5. Ok i am a 19 yr old male qualified ski and snowboard instructor, so i should know. Ok when your a beginner you will need to use snowplough. This is when your feet in in a triangle shape eith the point at the front.

When u get better you will need to learn parralel turns, These can be done with or without poles. This is better for your legs. Also asa beginner go down the slope from side to side, not straight down.

Ps. 1 thing plz if you are out of control, just fall. I learnt this the hard way as my best mate Broke my knee crashing into me. Luckily it was the last day. Gd luck.
