My mom gave birth to me and my sister naturally and said that it was so much more painful for my sister to be turned than the actual no pain medication birth!!! has any of you had it done? How did they turn your baby and how do you know that your baby has turned on his or her own. I am 29 weeks 6days but already nervous lol. thanks

  1. My twin sister had this done for her first pregnancy.  It was not successful and she said it was so painful and she just cried the whole time.  The doctors are just pushing on the outside of your belly trying to get the baby to flip.  I know another woman who attempted this as well and said the same thing--it didn't work and was painful.  The doctors can tell when they check you and during your ultrasound what position the baby is in.

  2. ya it will hurt also what they do is stick their hand in and turn the baby. also you can tell with an ultra-sound.

  3. my baby has put herself in the head down position so shes not breached but about a week ago she somehow went transverse which is long ways across my stomach she started moving frantically and I slowly nudged her around as she wiggled, when she was back to almost normal I went to the ER they said that i did it! I put her back in position! they were really surprised i did it but I only led her head where she needed to go as she wiggled it was pretty amazing, I thought i would share this with you. best of luck and give it a few more weeks your baby may go right into position!

  4. It doesnt hurt and you will be fine. things change, it wont hurt. look forward to your little baby and dont worry. good luck. love, christine, xx

  5. My baby was breech and I was given the option of having a version performed (where they were turn the baby) and then I would hope she didn't turn again and deal with the risks or to simply schedule a c-section.  My doctor told me they do the version in an operating room and give you an epidural.  I decided not to have it done.  I scheduled a c-section and this turned out to be the better choice for me.

  6. The breech tilt is much safer and it does not hurt.  Lie on your back with your hips at least 6" higher than your head.  Lie like this twice a day for 20 minutes at a time.  It gets the baby to turn himself.  It is said to work 75 percent of the time.

  7. There are many methods attempted with the aim of turning breech babies, with varying degrees of success. Each mother and baby will tolerate each procedure differently. Turning the baby can be done by a midwife or doctor who turns the baby by manipulating the baby through the mother's abdomen and has a success rate between 40 - 70% during labor.

Don't worry that what your mother felt and went through during her pregnancy will be the same for you.  Complications of birthing children is usually not inherited from mother to mother.  Even in the situation where you may have risk for breech or not, every pregnant is different, although some factors and experiences still may be coincidentally the same. For example, your baby may be in the breech position now but then the baby can turn anytime (and then even turn again).  What's most important is that at the time of birth the baby will turn itself the right way and of course we dont want that umbilical cord wrapped anywhere.  Many babies end up the wrong way for a period of time. Doctors and midwives know the signs, and early breech positions can and do often change.  Dont worry too much, worrying is not good for you.  -smile- God Bless you and the little one.

  8. I;ve heard of this, but its can't always be done.  I think the midwife or doctor has to do it though, not you.  Good question... I'm looking forward to seeing what people have to say...

I know that if a child is breeched, they like to do C-sections.  If there is anyway of turning the baby, it would be an alternative I assume.
