Turtle eggs.?

I came home and there was a bucket full of 20 to 30 turtle eggs on my front doorstep. There was a note on them from my uncle asking if we wanted them. He dug them up at work. I don't know what kind of eggs they are or how long they were there...but I need advice on hatching turtle eggs and raising turtles. Thanks!

  1. 20-30 turtle eggs are WAY too hard to take care of! i say tell your uncle to put them back where he dug them up, so they can hatch and live in the wild like they are sopposed to. i seriously doubt you have 10 100- gallon tanks, and thousands of dollars for the purchase of turtle supplies.

  2. you need to get an incubator when you do you need to place the eggs in a container with something to keep them moist incubate the eggs at 86 degrease the eggs will hatch in 80 to 130 days good luck

  3. Wionderful. Unless your uncle dug them up immediately after they got laid, he probably rotated the eggs and killed them. If they were dug a day or more after laying, your best bet is to fry them.

If the eggs were dug right after laying, don't touch them until you get a felt-tip marker, some plastic bags, and either sphagnum or absorbent cotton. A tray will help too. Mark the top of each egg and always keep that mark on top. Sanitize the inside of each bag. Oxi-Clean or a similar product in water will do. Wet the sphagnum or cotton, wring it out, and use it to cover the bottom of each bag. Place the eggs in the bags (put the bags on the tray to make things easy) with the marks up. Seal the bags. Place the tray with the bags somewhere where the temperature doesn't vary much. The top of the refrigerator is the best place in most houses. Then, be patient for a couple of months.

  4. well put them back in the ground would be best otherwise you may be putting out alot of  $$$ for care and if they get sick. I mean allot. I have had 2 for 36 yrs..

Generally the red eared sliders lay in may and june and hatch in july and aug,,

..it may be to late since they have been disrupted .

If you want to spend $$ on an incubator?? Thats your best bet.

Or put them in a box with a covered heating pad  in something water proof put soil on top and then the eggs and then more soil to cover . Keep heating pad on med..heating pad and wait Mom..
