Turtle hacthlings?

i no when turtles hatch they go to water but when they get to water what do they do do they keep close to shore or go deeper into lake or water

well they just swim swim swim. some stay close some go deep.

Depending on the species, most will head for an area of plants or other cover in about 2'-3' of water. Baby turtles are great at hiding since almost everything wants to eat them.

If you are asking because you are thinking about catching one, remember- in most states they come under fish laws and need permits, and that wild-caught turtles do not make great pets.
