Turtle help?

I WANTED TO MATE 1 OF MY 2 GIRL RED EARED SLIDER TURTLES WITH MY FRIENDS BOY 1 BUT I DONTKNOW IF HIS IS OLD ENOUGH IT IS ALMOST 2 YEARS AND MINE ARE BOTH 4 AND HIS IS ALITTLE BIGGER THAN MINE I NEED HELP ON THAT AND ALSO IN THE BEGGINING OF MARCH WE MATED ORNATE BOX TURTLES AND PUT THE 2 GIRLS IN AN AREA WERE THEY CANT GET OUT WITH PLENTY OF WATER AND SHADE AND FOOD THEY BOTH DUG AND I THINK THEY BOTH LAYED EGGS AND DECEMBER BEFORE THE 2NDTIME THEYGGS IN A BIGGER AREA AND I FOUND 2 BABIES IN THAT BIGGER AREA IN JUNE AND I STILL HAVENT FOUND ANYMORE BABIES EVEN IN THE LITTLE AREA AND IT HAS BEEN VERY HOT TTHESE4 PAST WEEKS AND IF I DO MATED THE RED EARED SLIDERS WE HAVE THEM IN A FISH TANK WHERE WULD SHE LAY THE EGGS AND HOW DO I CARE FOR THE EGGS AFTER SHE LAYS THEM AND HOW DO I CARE 4 THE BABIES AND ABOUT HOW MANY WILL SHE LAY AFTER 1 MATING?

Mating happens May and June..babies happen August thru Sept.

When you can see the long claws that the male has on his front nails..females have short nails, go figure and longer tails they are mature. Generally 5 yrs of age..and older before they may want to mate cause of sickness or who knows.

They have to be at least 5 yrs old to mate. They face each other and do a dance like they are holding hands Take her out after 45 min if she refuses to mate..and try later in a few days. Get  a 30 gallon tank at least.  Keep the water warm but shallow (About 5 inches), since during the mating the male might get so concentrated that he might forget that the female has to go out for breathing!.Now you also need  a 20 gallon tank with about 4 inches of potting soil or soil/vermiculite mixture.

The average gestation period is two months, but if she doesn't find a suitable place for laying her eggs, she might retain them inside.  The last two weeks you will notice that she will want to spend more time on land, sniffing and digging around like a dog inorder to find a proper place for laying her leggs.  When this happems you need to place the female in the nesting quarters.
