Turtle problems ='[ help ?

Question

So.... i have one turtle and I'm wondering if they ever get lonely cause the lady at the pet store said it dos'int but sometimes when i walk away it swims in the tank to my direction ??

any answers and NO I CAN NOT get another turtle cause my tank is too small for too

remeber u and they want some food

He just likes you.  Mine does this all the time and I have had her since she was a TINY hatchling. They learn to recognise their care givers.  Also, mine begs for food when I walk by.  And no, don't get another turtle.  one is plenty, plus your aquarium will stay cleaner with just one. Just make sure you can invest in a bigger aquarium when needed, because turtles get BIG and need a lot of room.  Enjoy =)

They are very social  animlas  ONLY IF you have a BIG tank and plenty of fish and food to eat. Otherwise they become canabalistic and will rip at turttle apart to the death.

They are skiddish animals and in the wild they scatter at anything that moves in fear of a predator eating them. I have 2 that are 36 yrs old! They still run everytime I approch their pond cause they think I maybe a possum,raccoon,owl, any hawks even ravens..

But at times when I am cleaning their pond they will hang on the bask rock and not move. At nighht they sleep on the botton of a pond, or tank and in streams and rivers and lakes to avoid predators.

Did you know that they need to bask under a reptile light UVA for 8 to 10 hrs a day for the vitamin D that they need to grow. So that means getting a turtle dock also.

Leave the heater on 75 to 78 degrees always.

Their water needs to be clean otherwise they get sick easily from dirty water cause they p**p allot.

You need a good filter system! Gravel larger than they can swallow.

You need to feed them feeder guppies, goldfish or minnows for protein and calcium daily drop 20 or so in the tanks and watch them disappear! This way when they swim for their dinner they get exercise also!

TOSS in a bird cuttle bone in the water for calcium. it will dissolve real slow and if they eat it that’s fine!!

They can have garden worm, meal worms, crickets, flies, crayfish and  anything that moves!

They need leafy greens Romaine, Butter lettuce. (Iceberg and cabbage are bad for them, any other leafy greens will do) for vitamin A that they need at least 3 to 4 times a week.

You probably already know that they get sick easily, shell rot, respiratory sickness, lopsided swimming, coughing, blowing bubbles, Swollen cloudy eyes means lacking in Vitamin A. Which we all need for good eyes. Google ‘vegetables with Vitamin A.

Get him some small little fish.  then try taking him out a few times a day to let him run around. if you bye like a little sign or something he can go under.  try feeding him shrimp food. then put it up to him face and he'll eat out of it.

actually my turtle does that to, he is interested in you, because you are the feeder, and feed him. I suggest you put in some fish, either minnows or guppies, for it to chase and eat.
