Turtle tank heater growth?

ok, i have 2 red eared sliders in a tank with a heater. the heater is a glass piece enclosed in a plastic surronding (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=6016+11148+15472&pcatid=15472) everytime i go to clean out my tank, i find this stuff growing on the glass of the heater. its very hard, and is like pumice stone. what the h**l is this and how do i get rid of it?

  1. Its calcium from the hard water. Just gentlyu scrap it off, I have the same on mine and my fish tanks.

    Its harmless.
