Turtle that wont eat?

what is the best thing to try to feel a turtle that wont eat and a man earlyer told me to turn my filter off now its all dirty i wont to clean it and start the filter back up bc i dont want my turtle living in dirty water... what do u think?its a baby musk turtle not sure how old he is very active but just wont eat ive had him for 5 days now

What are you trying to feed him. Try to pick up a goldfish and hold it in front of his face. I tried that and it worked for me. Once he starts, he won't stop.

Turn your filter back on and forget anything that that man told you. It is usual for turtles to stop eating while they adjust to life in new conditions. If it refuses food for a couple of days more, collect some live earthworms; no turtle can resist them. Live fish (not goldfish -- junk food) can be left in the tank for the turtle to eat when it gets hungry. Soft-bodied insects are good too. When you can't get live food, cut strips of liver and dust them with bonemeal.

Forget about any vegetables, especially head lettuce. You feed that only when a turtle has to lose weight. It has almost no nutritive value.
