  1. For most turtles, the rule is 10 gallons of water per inch of shell length, and most common pet turtles get 6-10" long.

  2. no, not at all, way to small, try other animals, that can live in a small tank.

  3. I'm not aware of any known turtle or tortoise specie that can live in a 20 gallon enclosure. I believe with turtles it's 10 gallons per inch of the turtle (somewhere around those lines), so it's not even healthy to house most newborns in a 20 gallon enclosure.

Some of the smallest (legal) ones can live at a minimum of 50 gallons. Your better off just buying a 50 gallon tank and upgrading to a bigger one later on (if it's need).

  4. not any bigger than a 2 inch baby i have a soft shell baby and a red ear baby in a a 10 gal with about 5 in of water and they are fine

  5. No, turtles should be kept in enclousers 50 gallon+... A hatchling will be able to fit in there...But not for Long...
