Question:

Turtles.....?

i have a 1 ft 9 in x 11 in cage.

i want a turtle that is small and non aquatic that i can just keep in my room. i also want it to be very active.

any suggestions?

  1. Well, box turtles are non aquatic...they tend to get on average about as big as a softball...maybe a little bigger. They aren't always super active though, they have their periods of inactivity throughout the day...but generally speaking, it really just depends on the individual turtle and their age, health, etc. that will determine their amount of activity when they ARE active. A more "fun" turtle is an Eastern Painted Turtle. They are semi-aquatic, so you'll have to make a part of the cage with water in it so he can swim. You'll also need some rocks in there for him to lay on, and a small heating lamp so that way he can get a few hours of light every day. I've owned MANY of both types of these turtles, and I love them! They're great! The only "problem" is you have to be careful when handling them because they DO pee on you lol.   3. The Eastern Box Turtle is a nice pet that is a land turtle, reasonably active for a turtle, but it needs a bigger space than you have.
