Tuskar Rock likely to prevail in the Firs Mitsubishi & Firs Ssangyong Handicap Chase
Tuskar Rock is likely to dominate proceedings in the Firs Mitsubishi & Firs Ssangyong Handicap Chase at Stratford in England on Monday, March 12, 2012. The class-3 event has a cash prize of £6,330 for the triumphant horse.
The race will start at 3:40 GMT and a total of 11 runners have been attracted towards the event. Their names are: Jacks Grey, Tuskar Rock, Rhum, Civil Disobedience, Otage De Brion, Duroob, That´s The Deal, Gentleman Anshan, Kellystown Lad, Mylord Collonges
and Sandhurst.
Out of the above entries, Sandhurst is likely to miss the race due to a setback, but the final decision will be made before the start of the race. His trainer, Tom Gretton, will be extremely disappointed, as his gelding could have made a solid impression
in the race.
However, Tuskar Rock has the best odds for victory, as he has been in outstanding form over the past few months. He has managed to win three out of his past four races, which will encourage the punters to place a lot of bets on his victory.
The nine-year-old gelding has participated in 13 chase races, winning three of them. Other than that, he has finished runner up on a couple of occasions. He also has the same number of third place finishes to his name, which means that he failed to make
it to the top three in six outings.
Venetia Williams’ trainee might not have the best strike rate, but the important thing is his recent form, which has been exceptional. In his most recent outing, Tuskar Rock finished first, despite making a couple of mistakes in his run. He will be partnered
by seasoned jockey, Sam Thomas, who has been victorious in 119 races while chasing. He has a decent strike rate and will be looking forward to win another event.
On the other hand, Rhum will be chasing his maiden victory in such events, as the best he could manage was a couple of runner up positions. He is in good shape at the moment and might spring up a surprise today.
Nigel Twiston-Davies’ trained gelding will be ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies, who has won 65 races while chasing.
Civil Disobedience, Otage De Brion, Duroob, That´s The Deal and Gentleman Anshan might also manage to make an impression in the race, but they do not seem to be in a position to win.
