Question:

Tutoring/Test Prep: Nightmares, great experiences and suggestions?

Ever take your kid to Sylvan? An SAT test-prep or tutoring center? Are you a student/ former student yourself who didn't have her/his learning needs met?

I have decided to start my own tutoring business. The thing is, I want the name to really POP and I want to know how to make students and parents feel comfortable and listened to. I intend to offer full service tutoring. 24 hour contact (in case he needs help on a late night cram session or project), text messaging to remind the student of any important assignments coming up, and even help dealing with difficult teachers and anything of service to my clients. But I need help figuring out the most crucial aspects of outstanding private tutoring. (I want my tutoring to be like the hotels that leave those savory dark chocolates atop perfectly fluffed pillows!)

No story or suggestion is too big or small! Just tell me--what do you wish you saw more often in tutors/test-prep agencies. I truly appreciate your comments and life stories!

  1. You have demonstrated (impressively, I might add) the ability to express yourself and describe what you can offer.  This alone proves your fitness to tutor in language skills, and augurs well for your ability in other disciplines.  I say Go For It!  I believe you'll be great.  If my family needed your services, I wouldn't hesitate to call on you for help.  I wish you the best of luck in setting up your business.
