Tv cable -- what is male to male? I don't know what I should get

My dad has a tv socket in his room and I dont' have one in mine,I only have a tv (i usuall just watch movies with it), but I want to watch tv in my room. I know I have to get a splitter, connect the splitter to my dad's tv socket in his room, connect his own tv to the splitter, and connect a tv cable to another sock in the splitter and run the cable into my room and connect the cable to my tv.

I'm looking at tv cables online but I'm not sure what cable to get in terms of male-to-male cable. What cable am I suppose to get? And what type of connector should be on the splitter (in terms of male/female that kind of thing)?

  1. When it comes to plain ole coaxial cable, it will only have male ends. The only thing with female ends are what you see on the back of the TV, splitter, and wall plate. Sounds like you know what to do as far as hooking it up. Just use the same type cable from wall to splitter, from splitter to both tvs. Again the female ends are on the TV and the splitter. Male and female really refers to other types of cable because male ends typically are the ones that you for lack of better words insert into the female connection.
