Tv keeps blowing fuses when its plugged in...

Question

So I went out and got a 40'' insignia lcd 1080p tv from future shop tonight, so we get it home and unpack it and take out our old tv, which was an older RCA 27'' (not flat screen) as soon as we plug the new TV into the powerbar it blows the fuse in our apartment...I was thinking that the old tv would draw more power than the new one, is that the case that the new TV is using that much more power that its blowing the fuses or could it be something wrong internally?
