Tv picture... help?

can someone help me?

i need to know what that screen that appears when theres technical difficulties or a weather warning?

that one where its like a rainbow screen and you usually hear that REALLY LOUD beep with it?

i need it for a movie.

if you could just tell me what its called, i can google image it...

  1. It's called the Emergency Alert System or EAS.  

    EAS is the replacement for the Emergency Broadcast System (EBS) that was used until the late 1990s (1997?).  The main difference is that the EAS system actually transmits data that can be read with the proper equipment.  That's what all the extra "beeping" is about - it's the data for the actual alert that makes up the text "crawl" that goes across the top of the screen.  If a slide (graphic) is used, they are not standard, every station makes their own.

    Before EBS was CONELRAD (CONtrol of ELectromagnetic RADiation), but that was waaay before my time in the industry.

    Now if you're looking for the Video Countdown  -- 4 beep 3 beep 2 beep 1....That's real hard to find....

    But, you could start with SMPTE countdown...
