Tv pictures freezes

Question

Sometimes when I change channels from a regular digital channel to an hd channel the tv freezes with different colored lines on the screen. When I change the channel back the screen stays the same but the channel on the cable box changes. The only way to fix is turn the tv off but I can't unless I unplug it from the outlet.
