Tv series with efran and amy?

it was a tv series that came on after 7th heaven. It was about a brain surgen and his two kids boy(efron) the father would talk to his dead wife. The girl, Amy's, boyfriend was in a coma from a car accident that her brother was responsible for. i've been thinking about this for a week and CAN NOT figure it out. please help

The name of the show was Everwood and we were so sorry when they  cancelled it. My daughter and I both LOVED that show. I bought season one for her, but we are still waiting for the other seasons to come out. You can purchase it at Amazon for $15.98 if you are a huge fan. Here is the link for you:
