Tv with vcr combined

i have a tv with vcr combo i don't have a remote do i have to buy two separate remotes to be able to control how would this work help can you program a remote where both will work

tv/vcr combos will not work with universal remotes. the original remote is the only one that will work properly. you can get original replacements at remotecontrols.com
