Question:

Tween Tomboy's 11th Birthday?

I've got a ten year old daughter, and she's quite the tomboy. She will be turning eleven in June, and I'm at a loss for party ideas. Usually, I'll start planning her birthday party the day after her birthday, but this year, I've been preoccupied. (I'm expecting) I don't want her to feel that I put her on the "back burner" so to say, since she's always had pretty good parties.

We've had a luau, a pirate party at a water park, and a "nancy drew" type mystery party....

My budget for the whole thing, including gifts, is about $500. She will be inviting her entire class at school, roughly two dozen kids. (We've never had the whole group show, usually barely half.)

Any ideas on UNIQUE parties? Any help at all would be appreciated....Again...she's a tomboy...so shopping, and nail polish are NOT her thing...

  1. this is simple have a movie pajama party tell her friends to wear pjs, brings sleeping bags and pillows and get them stuff animals for goodies and have a movie marathon or u could have a sports party in ur backyard or at a park

  2. SPORTS PARTY!!!!!!

My daughter loves sports so I like this idea.

Usually at any kind of community park you can rent a little barbecue area with tables for next to nothing and stuff to make burgers and dogs is cheap as well.  very little decor needed unless you want to do it up.  Just get the kids together play soccer or softball or anything fun and athletic.  I've seen cakes shaped like half a soccer ball before.  Could be cool.

  3. bring her to an arcade or like lazer tag

  4. omg, I am exactly like her, I am such a tomboy. For my 11th birthday I went camping. I made sooooooooo many memories! These are some of th e things we did...

    a survival thing

    went hiking

    told ghost stories

    rosted marshmellows

    slept under the stars

It was beautiful we had such a great time!

  5. I like the idea of having like a camping party...Like have a bbq with all the kids and then she could invite her closest girl friends(or guys in a seperate tent)to sleep out in the back yard..My friend had a party like this in 4th grade and I loved it..you could have a marshmallow roast too

  6. Laser Tag

Roller skating ring in your area

  7. my daughter's two years younger, but also a big-time tomboy and very excited this year to be attending a rock-climbing party and a laser-tag party.  she's also enjoyed ice skating parties (you could do rollerblading if you're the wrong climate for ice-skating).

her parties have always been at home ... she's done science themed parties (with a few cool experiments), art parties, back yard active parties, and a sleepover (co-ed, but she was just turning 8; i guess you're beyond that possibility by now).

  8. Have a super sports party find a place with plenty of room and cooking space. play some  games.

    some games like....

Get Plain t shirts for everyone and write in sharpie "blue team"  and "red team"

    water gun tag

each player gets a water gun and a plain white t shirt. have every body get a partner that they would like to be on the same team with. have the teams set up.  for each team you get food coloring( red= team 1) (blue=team 2) and put it in each water gun. the team with the most spots on the t-shirts win.

    steal the football

Have the same two teams. to play you have to steal the foot ball by running or passing the ball to another player. if tagged go to jail. the only way to get out of gail is to be tagged.

    kickball

You can mix up the teams or keep the same.the goal of the game is to try to get the most points.make certain home run points. if you get the ball in mid air the kicker is out.

    •Sliding is allowed.

    • 3 strike rule

    • Switch kicking to catching after kicking team gets 5 points

•Teams will be allowed to “bat” their entire roster providing there is the same number of men and women and they kick alternately.

•3 foul balls will constitute an out.

•The kicker/runner is out in situations the same as softball.  In addition the ball can also be thrown at the kicker/runner and hit them below the head to count as an out.

•Runners may not lead off bases.  Any runner who leads off before the ball is kicked will be ruled out.

Play more active games. then eat. have the kids use tee shirts as gifts to bring home. Eat popsicles to end the day off. have fun and good luck.
