  6. Simple: Don't let him ride his ten-speed on such a long trip, period.

  7. I hope he isnt going alone! Who will be following him in a vehicle? Have him plenty of water and make him take breaks. Be ready to massage his legs because he will be cramping up no matter how healthy you are. Have first aide kits available. Cell phones on the child and the person following them. Many changes of clothing and socks. Hats and sun screen.

  8. This isn't "Stand By Me" - the world is a dangerous place for children. No child should make a trip like that alone. If the parents won't accompany him, he shouldn't go at all.
