Twice I have responded on items I would like. No ans. from owner or I don'y know where to look?

After responding on items offered, I don't know where to find response nor do I see the item as having been taken by someone or reoffered. Perhaps I just don't know where or how to find the response!

Assuming that you are talking about Freecycle, if there is an item you would like, you should send an email to the person who offered the item.  They should send you a reply by email if the item is still available and you can arrange to get the item.  The group owner isn't involved in the process.  It's between the offerer and the responders to arrange taking items.
