A lot of Twilight and/or Harry Potter fans get accused of only reading those books. Like people will say, "Of course you think those books are amazing. You don't read anything else."

Since many people on here seem to be Twilight and/or Harry Potter fans I thought I'd ask. Do you read other books?

I personally love Harry Potter and Twilight, and I most definitely read other books.

  1. I'm obsessed with Harry Potter. I have two bookshelves in my room full of books ranging from Wuthering Heighs and Jane Eyre to Twilight and Harry Potter, so of course I read other books. My friend kept getting annoyed whenever I'd read during downtime in a class we had, because I wouldn't pay that much attention to her. I love reading :)

  2. I love those books because they're really good! but i read a ton of other books too! and not just fantasy books, but tons of other kinds. i think it's mean that people say that!

  3. i've read more books than you would think. in the last month i have read over 17 books. i sell them all after im done unless i realllly like them. im not obsessed with harry potter. im obsessed with twilight. and anybody else who likes twilight should go to youtube and type in official lullaby from the twilght movie. its beautiful. features pictures from the movie.

  4. Of course I read other books!  Harry Potter was great, but there are other books like it that are just as good.

  5. of course!! it just so happens that those 2 series are my fave series of alltime. i have read many many books. i love the young adult section!

  6. My son is a big time Harry Potter fan and reads lots of other books...Inheritance Cycle (a series of young-adult fantasy novels by Christopher Paolini) is another favorite of his.

  7. I read a lot of other books. Here's a list:

1.Percy Jackson and the Olympians books

    2.Princess Diaries books

    3.Airhead

    4.Magyk

    5.Once Upon a Marigold

6.I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You

7.Hatchet ( I was forced to read that one though )

    8.the Alice series

    9.Birchbark House

10.The Name of This Book is Secret ( that's the name of the book )

  8. Yerp, i read other books! xD

  9. Yes I read up to 5 books a week all different genre and authors. My dining room is now my library with over 800 books I have read and I want to read.  I buy up to 20 books a week from charity shops and retail shops as well as the internet.

I have been reading books since I was 3, thanks to my bookworm dad so have read hundreds if not thousands of books!

I am a Harry Potter fan and an adult!

  10. I actually only read the books, after the movies came out, and because I wanted to see what all the hype was; I love the books, by the way. I do read books, plenty, so I figured the Harry Potter books would be an easy read. I hope you keep reading other books, beyond fantasy. I assume you might want to be a writer one day, and the only way to do that is by reading the various genres that are out there.

  11. Yes I read other books.  Merely read Harry Potter books because they were in the same genre that I usually gravitate to.

  12. Yes, I read other books. A lot of other books actually. It's just that those two stand out from the rest and are amazingly written.

  13. um yeah i read soooo many other books i read like two or three books a week.

im a sucker for a good love story

  14. ugh I hate twilight but I love HP. Yes I read other books, fantasy romance mysteries anything thats worth reading. but HP will always be my #1 and I will never get tired of it.

  15. Of course we read other books.

  16. Yep I have read many different books

Right now I'm reading The Vampire Lestat

    Its a very good book

I still love Twilight and Harry Potter though

    xoxo

  17. Yes.  I'm a total bookworm and I read literally everything:)

  18. Try 'The Dragonrider's of Pern' Series by Anne McCaffrey.

  19. read Twilight BECAUSE I read other books.

I kept seeing Twilight mentioned on Y!A and decided to check it out.

[sigh] They got me. I was infected by Twilightitis. I'm undergoing treatment, mostly a steady reading diet of Ayn Rand and Victor Hugo with a couple of doses of Bronte, but I'm not completely cured yet. I'm not sure if I ever will be completely cured, and the chance of catching Twilightitis again are dramatically increased. I'll always be at risk of falling victim again, and I've already inadvertently infected other people around me with it.

I know, I KNOW, I should take my Rand/Hugo medicine, but sometimes I take a hit of Twilight instead. It's hard to get off that stuff once it gets into your system. And I know I'm a bad person for getting other people hooked, but like all addicts I don't like to do Twilight alone. Man, I'm jonesing for it now. Maybe I'll go read some Poe. He's depressing enough to make me feel good about my own problems.

  20. I am a huge fan of both series, and I agree with you about that!  My favorite book in the world is Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment, which I have read in 6 translations, including the original Russian.  So yes, it torques my shorts when someone says that Twilight and/or Harry Potter fans only read those books.  I average three books a week, and at least one of those is a classic.  Some people need to learn to stop getting superiority complexes because they think that they are above these books.

  21. I'm a die hard Harry Potter fan, and I own more than 300 novels, they vary from classics to new releases. Although I'm not a Twilight fan.

Harry Potter got me into reading, why not be grateful for that..

  22. well yeah i do read other books

but im not much of a reader

it takes a really good book like twilight

to make me read like i cant find another book i can read

though that can compare to twilight

  23. I've read both of those series and plenty of other books. My bookshelf has at least 150 books on it, all of which i've read, and its almost overflowing. Plus, there's another three crates worth still in storage from my move (we got a bigger house recently.)
