Edward Cullen, a vegetarian vampire, is one of the main characters in this book. He is Bella's boyfriend and plays the role of Carlisle and Esme's son and Rosalie, Emmett, Jasper, and Alice's brother.

Edward is a vampire and in love with Bella the main character who edward perceives as breakable. But their relationship is the whole plot of the book and their love for each other. His role is to support and protect bella from danger.
