Question:

Twins: Can they win the division?

The Twins lead the division right now by a half game over the White Sox. Their pitching has been decent and they have been getting a lot of clutch hits all year (lead the league a .308 with runners in scoring position). The Sox pitching has faltered recently, especially their bullpen. Can the Twins hold off the Sox for the rest of the season.

  1. Yes.

  2. They certainly have a chance. However, I still just don't think they are all around as good as the White Sox. Basically, even using your example of hitting with runners in scoring position, the Twins need to play almost perfectly to win. They just don't have much room for error because they aren't all that great. I would expect teams to start showing those weaknesses as we come down the stretch. It will be a great race either way!

  3. Yeah if Cuddyer comes back and produces

and Liriano continues to play good this is there division the White Sox cant stop them then cause not all 5 of there starters are good and the bullpen isnt exactly doing great as of late so i say Twins win it this year.

  4. they can win it,  but they have to shut down the sox offense like they did last weekend, that wont be easy

  5. They can hold them off as long as Cuddyear comes back and produces for them in the DH spot(Span playing right). Liriano is a big boost to the rotation too.

  6. The Twins & White Sox will battle for AL  Central title all season & should be interesting to say the least. The Twins hold a 1/2 game lead over the White Sox & you ask can they hold off the Sox, why ask that? It's only 1/2 game lead but Twins do have a decent team

  7. Michael Cuddyer won't be back at all this season. The Twins have gotten this far without Cuddy and can go all the way without him as well. It's a huge bummer that he was hit in the foot by a line drive during a AAA Rochester game on Friday night, but Span is doing fantastic. He has been quite the major league baseball player lately. Cuddy was ready to come back and I know I was ready for him to come back, as well as everyone else I'm sure. I just feel terrible for him. I think he was scheduled to return to the team this Monday. Bummer.

I believe that we will definately take the division and the World Series =]

  8. i think they are capable of it but i think the white sox are the overall better team...their offense is really good, and i think their bullpen has too much talent to just completely fall off track...also, they have a lot more experience in terms of playoff situations than the twins, which is going to be a major plus coming down the stretch

  9. They've been playing without cuddyer since june or something so why does it matter now they captured first place without him and they will win it with or without him too. and the white sox are beginning to falter they had 6.5 games on twins and now are behind half a game.

  10. The White Sox probably will, but no one can look at the Twins without wondering, "Who ARE these guys?" After losing Hunter and then Santana, Kansas was supposed to mow them down. And here they are. I don't see them winning it, but at this point I have to say, I wouldn't be surprised or die of a heart attack or anything if they did.

  11. Either them or Chicago probably.
