I have 9 year old boy girl twins that have been in different classes since preschool/daycare. they are going to the 4th grade this year and i want them to be in the same class. if this is my choice and also, fine with the twins, can the school object and refuse to let them be in the same class?

  1. depends where you live. In Australia the parent has the final say. Check with the school where you are. But as you say they are just starting school then I am guessing you are America. They are slowly coming to the relisation that twins are actually good together. Do some research on David Hay who is one of the leaders in twins in school. He has done a lot of research. But it may be too late to change them. Usually the class list is done at the end of the school year Good Luck

  2. No- its also easier on you with the same homework and they can help each other out ; and they cant refuse you

  3. 1: They have been held back. The school won't give you something if you have daughters who can't keep up.

2: No, they will put them separatly.

  4. actually it is not allowed twins can be in the same section sorry

  5. Depends on where you live, probably. But why should they object?

If they do object, find out why, and if it isn't a good reason, petition the school board to allow them to be in the same class.

  6. I was just wondering about this the other day. My son had a pair of girl twins in his class last year, and again this year. I was curious so I looked up these other girl twins in a higher grade in his yearbook, and they were in the same class. I always new twins when I was in school and they were never in the same class. So I was wondering if there had been new studies that say they benefit from it, this just reminded me I wanted to look it up.

Okay.. I found tons of stuff on it.

  7. I've seen twins in the same class in elementary only if its esol, I'm a triplet and the only time i had the same class in elementary was in kindergarten, in middle school u have a higher chance together my sisters were toghether until this year in which i have 6 classes with one and 2 with the other

  8. My son had twins in his first grade class last year.  I know it is unusual for them to be in the same class, but I don't know what my school district's policy is, or what the parents requested in this case.

  9. The school could technically refuse the request.  If you think about it, that's like every parent getting to request who is and isn't in their child's class.  However, most schools are willing to make this sort of a request just to avoid conflict.  There are twins in my school who do each other more harm than good by being in the same class (according to several of my colleagues), but because the mother insists they stay together, the principal always grants the request.  If you've never asked for special treatment up to this point for your twins, I'm sure the school will be fine with letting your twins be in the same class.

  10. It depends on their policy. I have a friend who has twins and the school leaves it up to the parent. My friend had to write a letter each year stating she wanted them separated (she separates hers). But there are other twins in our district who are together so it just depends where you live and their policy. I do know there are a lot of school districts that frown upon keeping twins together and have policies against it.

  11. The school district I lived in did not allow twins to be in the same class, or siblings (if one were to fall behind, which happened). I have not heard of allowing twins in the same class unless it was a small school and there was only one class per grade. The school makes the rules though, so if they put them in separate classrooms then that is their way.

Why do you want them to be in the same class? They need to make friends separately. They need to learn how to stay apart. Also, most students are better behaved if their sibling  or twin is in another classroom.  I do not remember the rest of the reasons that the school gave to my brothers who are twins, but there are more reasons as to why that is such a universal rule.

  12. i've never seen twins in the same class before. schools don't do that for some reason. i'm pretty sure it's on purpose.

  13. Most schools keep twins in separate classes so they do not disrupt each otherr, but if you feel they would do well in the same class you should talk to theprinciplee about it. It's best to talk about why you feel they should be in the same class and they will tell you why they think that is a good or bad choice. Good Luck!

  14. The schools assign the classrooms not the parents and they usually don't like to put siblings in the same classroom.  They can 100% refuse to put your twins in the same room, it is their decision not yours.

  15. they will probably let u!! i go to school with triples 2boys and 1 girl and they do a lot better in the same class so the principal will probably try it!!

  16. We heard from the start they they try to keep siblings separated.  That said, we went in to the preschool office (a friend of mine has a son VERY close to my daughter) and they allowed them into the same preschool class.  I think the least you can do is ask.  I don't see the harm.

  17. Where we live they only allow sibs in the same class during kindergarten.

That's the norm with most public schools I think. The thinking being that they will depend on each other and not develop individually. Your kids being older may change that I guess. My youngest grand kids are boy/girl twins and they will not be together after kindergarten.

Your school more than likely has set guidelines for this situation and can refuse to let them be class mates. You may be able to argue the point as they are older.

    Good luck.

  18. The school my kids go to only allows twins in the same class for pre-kindergarten through first grade.  After first they split them up.  I don't know what your school's rules are about twins, but good luck.

  19. My little sisters are identical twins, and 6 years old. My mom requested for them to go into the same grade one class, but the school completely refused. They said that they can distract each other, and it will be harder for them to make friends. In the end my mom saw the point, and it actually glad they are in separate classes, and i think Jill and Summer are glad too.
