Twisted kids cartoon - Back at the Barnyard?

Question

OK, help me out here - why does Otis, (the cow-star of the show) a male, have udders? If he is a male, he should be a bull and have horns, not udders. Is this explained in the show somehow?

Does anyone else find this to be strange? My 6-year old daughter brought this to my attention, asking "Daddy, why does Otis have udders and squirt milk? He's supposed to be a bull, bulls don't give milk!!" And she's never even been on a farm!

I said, "You're absolutely correct. I guess the makers of the show think you're dumb. What do you think?" She said, "Turn it off, I'm going to play outside!" That's my girl...

So what do you guys think? What is the meaning behind the Otis thing?

think about it. Otis is a bull. if he didn't have the utters, what would be there? definitely not age appropriate

i was reading TV guide and the producers said that they didn't think children of that age would know the difference. i agree that it is a little twisted

That's insane. They must think that kids wouldn't understand.

It's like on an episode of that show That's So Raven. When they thought kids wouldn't understand the fact that Raven is 18 and can vote for president, yet she said she couldn't.

Children show producer's don't see the potential in today's children.I mean, not every six year old does drugs.

i know i was watching it and me and my friends (who live on a farm with cows) are like "wow what a gender confused cow!!" i guess the creators are 'cityfolk' lol

My husband and I own/operate a 750 cow dairy, and our kids asked the same thing when we saw the movie Barnyard in the theater.  As far as I know, you are right...they are just dumb writers!!!  I hope it's not just some weirdo radical liberal way to make us think that "transgender" is ok!!  Alright...maybe I am reaching a little!!  I think it's just that the writers are dumb!!

My 6 yo daughter and 8 yo son both thought the whole Otis with utters was stupid and never watched it again.  LOL

I've wondered that too.

I think that the producers of the show decided to put utters on Otis because it was something familiar.

They probably thought that children wouldn't be able to recognize Otis was a cow if he didn't have any utters.

Apparently, they didn't realize that some children understand the males and females are different.

As far as I know, they don't explain why he has utters in the show.
