Twisted my ankle when I step on a rock,1 1/2 inch above the ankle bone. Area is swollen,heard a snap.Go to dr?

Yes, absolutely go see a doctor.  Especially if you heard a snap.

Are you able to weight on your ankle?  Swelling is common with ankle injuries, so in the mean time, keep your foot elevated and ice it to reduce the swelling.

Swelling is not good. It could be sprained or worse. Please go to the doctor. Its better to play it safe then to risk further injury.

i suggest going to a doctor and while waiting, ice the area

Yes!  You probably didn't break it because you wouldn't be able to walk on it and you would KNOW if you'd broken it.  But I'd still go and get an x-ray.
