Two Indians ready for the Dubai Desert Classic - Golf News
The Indian golf star, SSP Chowrasia, is aiming to outshine his opponents out of India, while he is preparing to make a start on the European Tour’s Dubai Desert Classic, scheduled to start from Thursday, February 9, 2012, at the Emirates Golf Club.
Chowrasia started off the 2012 European Tour season with a 24th finish at the Volvo Golf Champions, held at The Links Golf Course at Fancourt, South Africa.
That was the time when he was seen gaining some confidence, as he only managed to make two cuts in the 2011 European Tour season.
His performance in the Volvo Champions was praised by many and he then moved to Abu Dhabi to participate in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.
There, he again made the cut with an outstanding performance late in the second round to be part of the final two rounds.
His consistency continued in the Qatar Masters at the Doha Golf Club where he finished 47th.
Prior to entering the first round of the Dubai Desert Classic, he said that he has critically analysed the mistakes he made in the recent tournaments.
Therefore, he now plans to overcome his mistakes in Dubai and record a better finish this time.
“I am feeling better and playing better. It will be nice to begin my defence with a good showing in Dubai,” said Chowrasia, who will also defend his Avantha Masters title next week in India.
On the other hand, another Indian professional golfer, Jeev Milkha Singh, is also participating in the event.
He also had good performance in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, where he finished 24th on the leaderboard.
However, he failed to show his putting skills in the windy conditions in Doha and ended up missing the cut.
Jeev said that he is proud to represent India in high-profile tournaments such as Abu Dhabi Championship and Dubai Desert Classic on the European Tour.
He further said the only problem he is facing is inconsistency, which is hampering him to move ahead on the Tour.
He says that a good finish in the Dubai Desert Classic will boost his morale, which will result in better performances in the upcoming events.
