Question:

Two NIP's for speeding?

Two years ago, i was sent a notice of intended prosectution for speeding at 36mph in a 30 zone. I attended a drivers awareness course, as an alternative to 3 points. It obviously hasn't had a huge effect, as i have just recieved a second NiP for exactly the same speed. I will not be offered the course again, an am assuming I will get £60 fine, and 3 points(although i am aware they could take me to court and throw the book at me!). Does anyone know if this is all I may get, or will they throw in the 3 points for the previous conviction too? I hope this makes sense!

  2. Short answer, no.  You cannot be convicted twice, for the previous offence.

You were convicted of speeding 2 years ago.  You have paid the penalty, which was the awareness course.

You have been convicted of speeding again.  You will pay the penalty (which will probably be 3 points, plus a £60 fine).

  3. It's still a fixed penalty speed so it's the fine and points

  4. Hi Claire

if you wre doing the same speed and no other offences were evident at the time then yes... £60 and 3pts. if you please guitly.   ouch..
