Two Starting Goalies for Tampa Bay Lightning coach Guy Boucher -NHL Update
Tampa Bay Lighting head coach, Guy Boucher, has certainly sacrificed a lot this time around as he has vested his interests and confidence in a rookie goalie, Anders Lindback, for the upcoming regular season, but can finally breathe easier after veteran Mathieu
Garon came out recently and let the world know that he is ready to offer his services to the team.
Due to a number of injuries, the Tampa Bay Lightning was forced to sideline Garon and bring up Anders Lindback, one of their top potential goalies, and give him the starting position with no one else to take the stage, but luckily now, Boucher is relaxed
and ready to take on the opposition when the time comes.
Not wanting to play Lindback more than he can, Guy Boucher was worried about how exhaustive next season could potentially be as he was the only net minder for them and no one else looked as competitive in the free agency market, but now with Garon back in
the scene, both have been termed to be starting goalies for Tampa Bay.
“They’re both going to get a lot of ice time,” Boucher said while talking to the Tampa Bay Times. “I’m not expecting Lindback to come in here and play 65 games. He played 15 games the past two years, so it’s not fair to him. It’s not fair for the expectations.”
"We know he's going to be good, but how good we don't know," Boucher added about Lindback. "That's why Garon is perfect for him. He'll be able to help him with how to manage things. And we know we can put Garon in net and get good results."
Mathieu Garon was a major player for the Tampa Bay Lightning last season as he sided with veteran Dwayne Roloson and played in 48 games, winning 23 of them for a .901 save percentage and 2.85 goals-against average.
Garon is certainly looking for something much bigger for himself and his reputation next season and needs to prove that he is still fresh in the last year of his contract, which will expire on July 1, 2013.
