Two Time All-Star Scott Kazmir looking to make a strong comeback- MLB News

Starting pitcher Scott Kazmir made a promising start to his Major League career before it started to derail in the last couple of seasons. In 2010, Scott posted a 9-15 record with a 5.94 ERA in 28 starts for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
The next year wasn’t any better as he just made a single start for the Los Angeles ball club and surrendered five runs in a little over an innings. It was not only a time for struggle in the Majors; he already had a hard time in the spring training and later
in the Minor Leagues as well.
The decline in form saw the Angeles release him in June of 2011 and he tried his luck first in the Dominican Winter League and later in independent Atlantic League.
Things have improved for him for the upcoming 2013 season as he been signed by the Cleveland Indians to a Minor League deal and have also invited him to spring training.
Scott is just looking to grab the opportunity with both hands and thinks that there is not much that he deserves as his performance was not good enough. He is eager to go out and prove what he can do.
“I’m just looking for an opportunity,” Kazmir said. “I don’t feel like I deserve anything. I feel like I have to go out there and prove myself again.”
When things started to go bad in the Majors for the Houston resident, he says that he kept on losing control and his effort to regain it only compounded his troubles.
“It felt like I started compensating for things,” he said. “I couldn’t get back to where I wanted.”
His stint in the Dominican Winter League with the Gigantes de Carolina helped him regain his confidence and he was able to perform better. He won some admirers in Dominican Republic and the team’s catcher, Rene Garcia, believes that he is ready to rejoin
the big leagues.
“His stuff’s been really good. His pitches pop, and he looks ready for the big leagues,” Garcia said.
Manager Edwin Rodriguez also believes that Scott is pitching well and after a rough start, has improved all the time in the winter league.
“He’s been pitching well,” Edwin said. “His first game, he had a rough one. But that was his first game in about three months. Even then, he battled his way through tough situations, and he’s been pitching better and better.”
Scott Kazmir is a two time All-Star pitcher and has a 66-61 record in the Majors with a 4.17 ERA. He has played at the big stage for eight years and all the 28-year-old needs is some good outings and some confidence in his abilities. The rest will fall into
place itself.
