Question:

Two Weeks Notice?

I work at a supermarket and am planning to hand in my two weeks notice. I just have a few questions. Do I need to give it to anyone else other than my Department Manager, Human Resources, and the Store Manager?

I think I should give it to my Department Manager first, and talk with her, then just give the letter itself to HR and the Manager.

Also, is this letter ok?

To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is to announce my intent to resign my position at (the store), effective Saturday, August 9th. My hope is that this will be a sufficient period of time to identify and train a new candidate for the position.

I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to work here for the past five months. It has been a truly rewarding and educational experience. I will always appreciate the kind and supportive nature that my superiors and coworkers treated me with throughout my time here.

  1. very nice. can i use it??? lol!

  2. Give it to all the people mentioned. Or at least to the HR manager and your manager. That should be sufficient. The letter you've written is great. Specially if at least half of it is true.

Also, kudos for being so professional and polite. It's a shame more people do not behave in such a way! Keep it up!

  3. thats very nice more the enuff i just wrie i am rsigning as of ___ but thts fine. Each place has different procedure ur supervisor will tell u . Its best to tell them first then they will usually ask for letter ( so u can't claim unemployment ins )

  4. Very nice letter, but really, do you think they will appreciate your service, a day after you are gone. Just hand it in without fanfare and let them know when you will be gone.

  5. it's FINE sweetie

  6. Dude, it's seriously heartwarming to see you being so thoughtful and professional. I was under the impression that these days most people just don't show up.

  7. It looks and sounds great. You have alread ytaken the effort to write it know turn it in. This will do wonders for you in the future.

Remember to date, hand sign it and with a letter so nice I would keep a copy.

  8. I think that's more than enough - I'd just tell my manager then give it to the General Manager personally.

    It sounds very nice.
