Two actions humans can take to reduce human imapct on wetlands?

1. Not drain them, concrete them over and then build resorts on top of them.

2. Not allow wetlands to watch "The View".  Because that show will rot anyone, or anything.

Most Tree Huggers would say, "Don't reproduce".  So I Guess the best way to prevent effecting wet lands would be to off your self.

Now getting real. Of corse setting aside wet lands is number one. It never helps them to fill them in and build on them. Next is to reduce run off of undesirable materials into wet lands. This all costs money, so only nations with a good ecomonmy can afford to take these actions.  One thing that can help wet lands is to turn them into cash cows.  Ducks Unlimited is made up of mostly Duck Hunters. To keep the duck hunting good they have bought up a number of wet lands where ducks nest. This helps not only the ducks but all the wild life in the wet lands. Land owners get a good price for their land and nothing gets built on it. It keeps the duck hunting good, so becomes a cash cow to be kept as is. OR even cleaned up and improved.

Prevent chemicals including: commerical fertilizer, oil, drano (and similar cleaners), paint etc. from running off from lawns, parks, streets, crop fields etc. and into the wetlands.  It pollutes the water.

Prevent irrigation or municipal (city) wells from being drilled within 5 miles of wetlands.  Those wells drain the groundwater that sits under wetlands thus drying the wetlands out.

I've seen the effects on wetlands of both of these things first hand.  The result of the top one is an area that is still wet but has very little plant and animal life left in it.  The result of the bottom one is a dry or nearly dry mud flat that a much reduced list of living things can survive in.
