Two computers cannot connect to the same wireless network ?

I have two laptops; dv6000t's both of them, and it seems only one of us can get a connection, i have 4 computers that are connected to this wireless modem linksys (WRT54GS) 2 of them are desktops which internet works fine for them even though they are wireless, but the laptops however only one of us can access. any solutions?? alternatives??

  1. couple of things, do the laptops have the same name? are they set to static ip addressing and have the same ip addres? is the router only  allocating 3 dhcp ip addresses? check from the routers admin screen more below. try switching off one of the desktops and see if both laptop can then connect, this would confirm an ip addressing issue


  2. maybe there is a limit on the how many ip address the DHCP on the router will assign. That is one setting u can check.

    Also check if there is a MAC filter being used.  

  3. On the laptop which is not working properly, is the wireless powered on?  Some laptops have the ability to turn the wireless on an off via a switch or button.  Sometimes this inadvertently gets switched off.
