Two computers don't communicate with each other??

i have two computers and i used to play lan games and used to set up ftp servers so that my other computer can connect to it with a router. they are both hooked up to the same network. but then one day i don't know what happened but i tried to connect to the ftp server and it didnt connect. and then tried to host a lan game but the other computer didnt detect it. is like the computers dont communicate anymore. please help?

did you recently install a software firewall, anti virus, or turn on Windows Firewall?  Some applications block network access. Also make sure both computers are on the same workgroup. You can check the workgroup by right clicking on My Computer and clicking properties and then on the Computer Name tab.

do the basics...check ya firewall....sounds like a firewall...allowing each pc to communicate with the router, but not each other.....disable firewalls...retry
