We have two computers and both of them are connected to the same broadband(using a router). Our internet speed is 24mb, I want my computer to have a limit of 12mb and the other one to have the same limit. How can i do this?

  1. Easiest way is to limit bandwitch with software. As Netlimiter2 Pro does. Alternatively you can buy hub [switcher] and connect Internet connection [Ethernet/LAN cable] and two computers to switcher. That way it is more efficient. If 1st computer isn't using Internet the other one will have full speed. And if booth are using Internet speed will be divided [But that is exactly what rooter does - just with switcher you can connect more computers.] As i said if you need all-the-time limited bandwitch use above mentioned software. Hope this helps.

  2. NetLimiter is an ultimate internet traffic control tool designed for Win2000, WinXP and Win2003.

It is suited to monitor applications which access the internet and actively control their internet traffic. You can use NetLimiter to set (download/upload) speed limits for applications or even single connection.

Simply, NetLimiter will allow you to share your internet connection bandwidth among all running applications on your computer.

With this unique and “never seen before” feature Netlimiter offers comprehensive set of internet statistical tools which includes real-time traffic measurement and long-term per-application internet traffic statistics.

I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PROGRAM.  (BUT THIS IS THE ONLY ONE THAT I KNOW OF)

A LOT OF THE WEBSITES THAT I HAVE FOUND THAT HAVE THIS PROGRAM IN IT HAS A VIRUS.

  3. Hi,

Some network cards you can limit the throughput of data transmission on others your only option is to make the speed 10Mbps. I am wondering why you want to lower the speed. Most NIC cards are set to auto-negotiate. I will tell installing software to limit your network connection speed will not help you with a problem you may be having.

  4. Your router presumably has either 100Mbps ethernet interfaces or wireless 50+ Mbps ? It should send and receive the traffic to both PCs in the most efficient way  possible - that's it's purpose.

The only reason you'd want to restrict bandwidth in this way is if one or both connections are constantly using their limit, like P2P downloading or online gaming. Internet/HTTP traffic is very bursty - it likes big chunks for very short periods of time and does nothing most of the time when web browsing. Whenever one of your connections is not being used you'll be losing half the bandwidth...

Check out http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?... for a decent software limiter or if your network cards in the PCs have the feature you may be able limit the bandwidth.

  5. Bridge the connection with a Hub-would be the hardware solution.
