Two directors to be present at Danny Boyle’s gig for London 2012 Olympic Games
Danny Boyle, who is the creative director of the London 2012 Olympic Games has recently made an unorthodox move by installing his own television director.
The move has been made by Boyle in order to make sure that his vision of the Olympic Games is carried out to the fullest.
The gig at the Olympic Games for which Danny Boyle is responsible will be performed at the opening ceremony of the Games that is scheduled to take place on July 27. The increased level of concern shown by the creative director of the Olympic Games can partly
be attributed to the fact that the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games is expected to be viewed by a television audience of over a billion people.
Boyle has had significant honours to his credit in his career apart from being the creative director of the upcoming London 2012 Olympic Games. Boyle has been responsible for directing an Oscar winning film by the name of Slumdog Millionaire. Not only that,
Boyle also directed the famous movie, Trainspotting.
In the upcoming Olympic Games that are visiting London for the third time in its history, Boyle is covering the ceremony that has the name of The Isles of Wonder. The theme of the gig being supervised by Boyle is based on a play by the legendary English
playwright William Shakespeare’s the Tempest.
According to the rules laid down by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Olympic Broadcast Services (OBS), needs to be in control of the formal coverage of the ceremony. The rule is in place in order to avoid any instance of bias or political agenda.
However, Boyle has made a slight modification by reaching a compromise between himself and the OBS. This has been done by agreeing that two directors will be present at the ceremony. One of the directors will be from OBS, who will have the responsibility
to handle the more formal aspects of the ceremony while the other director will be Boyle’s. The OBS director will be responsible for looking after the parade of the athletes as well as the protocol aspects.
