  1. I can recommend Vinopolis - drinking and culture at once!!

Other suggestions are to get onto the Visit London mailing list (www.visitlondon.com) they email you every week with a what's on guide and has plenty of good ideas.  There are a lot of fairs / special events which are often free eg. just before Xmas there was the Frost Fair and coming up soon is Chinese New Year which is always good fun.

Plus there are plenty of really good museums and art galleries and they often have an education programme where you can take part in cool and fun things (don't just think of the big guns - British Museum etc but some of the less well-known ones).  I am pretty sure the Horniman Museum had an African Drumming workshop at one point - oh yes and the Geffrye Museum has their Twelfth night event on Sat 6th Jan, mulled wine, carol singing and the traditional burning of the holly and ivy- but any time of the year they are worth a visit.

Many of the larger art galleries have evening openings with music / bars etc. V&A is always good for that.

Interesting question though!  Look forward to seeing other ideas.

  8. Website www.applausestore.com has tickets to shows in and around London. Pottery cafes allow you to have coffee and paint your own pottery for a small fee. Haunted London tours in the evening can also be fun, they have a Jack the Ripper evening tour in Whitechapel. Volenteer at the local Salvation Army shelter, your helping others and feeling good about it! Have fun!
