Question:

Two honors classes too hard for freshman year?

I am a freshman this year and I decided to take both of the honor classes offered. You had to get your 8th grade teacher's ok. I'm taking both Honors English and Honors Biology. I always got A's in those two subjects and they are my strongest subjects.

Are those classes hard, as in too much homework? Like, doing nothing but homework all night?

If I am also taking orchestra, will all of this look good for college if I get good grades?

  1. Ok, well I am now a Sophomore.

Let me start off by saying: If you are worried about two honors classes in one year... You'll be having panic attacks throughout your other years of high school.

Sure, I know that your worried because there is a transition from middle to high school... But the workload for those classes is nothing. Basically do this to succeed:

    1. Focus in class

    2. Do your homework

    3. Study

That's really it. I got a 4.0 all through Freshman year. You won't be staying up all night doing homework. I think the workload for those classes is about half an hour a night each. That's not very much, considering what you will be taking next year.

I have classes that require two hours of homework per night- AP Physics, AP US History, etc...

I am also in Orchestra. Trust me, if you get good grades taking hard classes looks very good on your college transcript.

All I have to say, is don't be afraid. Anyone can do anything if they really put their mind to it. Be confident because you know that you can do it.

    Good luck.

  2. naw it isnt too hard...i had 3 honor classes back when i was a freshman...u just have to apply urself n also it depends on the teachers u get...some honors teachers think their students r so great that they really dont need dat much work while others can give u a pile of work...but its a worth while cuz in College its much worst

  3. no, i did the same thing, and it seemd like i was taking normal classes, dont worry its not that much harder, the only difference in english is thta you have to read an extra book at home, on your own time instead of in class. in biology you might have a teeny bit more homework, not much though. yea that will all look good for college, getting good grades in honors classes is definitly good, especially on top of music/sports/clubs. youll do great, good luck! :D
