Two ip address's?

i go to sites like whatismyip.org and i have a number.. then i click the site and it shows me a different number. Why do I have two? I have a router also.

  1. Are you using anything that hides your IP from servers? There are programs that change your IP to somewhere else, like Germany or something.


  2. Most routers have their own IP address, It's probably see'ing both IP's and it is just picking one.

  3. Not sure what your trying to ask...but I'll try to be of some assistance.

    You can never trust a website to give you information about your computer, so the best thing to do is look on the computer itself for your ip address.

    Here's how:

    Start > Run > cmd > ipconfig /all

    - scroll and find your ip address. (normally around default gateway and subnet mask.)

  4. It has to do with Network Address Translator/Translation (NAT). Whenever you go out to the internet you orginal IPaddress is translated into an alternate IPaddress, so others will not see where you are comming from. This is not the exact definition of a NAT. Google NAT for a better definition.
