Two local players get sponsor's exemption for Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012
The Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012 is set to be staged from October 11-14, at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, with the participation of international and local contenders.
The tournament roster will be awash with plenty of talented LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) players, but locals have also decided to prove their worth this time — and Jean Chua
is one of them.
Chua hails from Kuala Lumpur and has found a spot in the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia thanks to sponsor’s exemption.
Another rising player from Kuala Lumpur, Ainil Johani Abu Bakar, has also been confirmed to join the roster — something the local crowd is going to appreciate.
Speaking to the media about her plans for the looming battle, Chua said that she is more than happy to find this opportunity and it will be a challenge for her to face big names.
Chua said that due to rigorous training on the practice range, she has managed to improve her game to a great extent and now she is fully fit to battle any player. She added that the conditions
at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club can be tougher than most of the players anticipate, but she is going to play her natural game.
“I've been working very hard and I feel much more comfortable about my game and I think I'm better prepared to handle the conditions at the KLGCC,” Chua said.
The Malaysian star said that facing LPGA stars is not going to be easy but she will try to hold her nerve and give it the best shot. “This is a world-class event and there are so many great
players competing. It's not going to be easy but I’m definitely going to give my best and hopefully give my fellow Malaysians something to cheer about".
On the other hand, Ainil also expressed her confidence saying she is prepared to battle competitors next month, but finding a sponsor’s exemption was great and she will try to live up to the
expectations of local fans.
“I'm honoured that Sime Darby has given me this opportunity to compete in such a prestigious event. My dream is to play on the LPGA Tour and this experience will definitely help me become
a better player,” Ainil said.
