Two main reasons why New York Giants has an edge over New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI
The New York Giants will not be easy opponents to face for the New England Patriots, who are on a 10-game winning streak.
Giants defeated Patriots in the Super Bowl XLII game, and we witnessed the same result when these two sides met during the regular season game of the National Football League (NFL).
When these sides will meet again in the Super Bowl XLVI game, Patriots will certainly look to take revenge, but here is why the Giants can once again steal the show on the big day.
The "Elite" Manning
New York Giants, quarterback, Eli Manning, has already answered his critics and proved that he is one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
Manning, who is also in the contention for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) title, will appear in his second Super Bowl game.
The last time he played on the big stage, he guided his team to a victory.
This season, he is playing at his best. In the regular season, he completed 359 passes of 589 attempts for 4,933 yards and 29 touchdowns.
In three games in the playoffs, he completed 76 passes of 123 attempts for 923 yards and eight touchdowns.
The trio of Cruz, Nicks, Manningham
Believe it or not! They are one of the best if not the best.
One of the reasons for Manning’s success is the presence of Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham.
Here is what New England Patriots’ cornerback, Devin McCourty, said about this trio:
“If you worry about the run too much they have three guys with a great quarterback that can get down the field, throw it short, break tackles, and take it the distance.”
He added that:
"So the biggest thing with their receiving core is they do everything well. They're not just a bunch of fast guys that know how to run vertical. They can catch short passes and break tackles so we have to be ready to go, each guy on the defence; linebackers,
defensive line, and the secondary."
With such a strong offensive unit, which is improving its game-play with every game, Giants certainly has an edge over Patriots.
