The gestation period for these doves is about 14 days. It seems like the eggs must be infertile, right? If not, what is going on? Should I do anything? Will the eggs eventually explode?

  1. Could be a number of things. But one thing for sure is that the eggs are not fertile. Could be 2 females sitting on eggs. Could be that if its their first time with breeding, they may not know exactly what to do. Check the eggs with a flashlight. Hold the egg up to the light and see if there is anything there.

  2. No, the egg won't expload??? What do you think is inside, gunpower? The egg will dry up inside if the egg isn't fertile. I have raised pigeons and doves almost all of my life. I have never had a hen stay on the nest past three days after the due date. Are you sure that the pair is on the original set of eggs? Is this a pair of pet doves? Are you just observing a pair of wild doves?
