Two new names qualify for Kingsmill Championship 2012 roster
The coming edition of Kingsmill Championship may have grabbed attention due to a strong roster packed with big names on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour, but several new stars will also be putting their skills to the test in order to prove their mettle.
The Kingsmill Championship 2012, which is scheduled to be played from September 6-9 at the Williamsburg, Kingsmill Resort, River Course, Virginia, will be featuring Whitney Neuhauser and Ohio native Alexandra Casi, as both the players posted best scores in qualifier match held at Kingsmill Resort River Course.
Commentators said that the presence of multiple players possessing a variety of golfing skills will spice up the much-hyped event, helping the officials lure bigger audience this year.
Casi and Neuhauser who previously played at the University of Virginia, have proved their worth, but maintaining their momentum at the four-round event is going to be an uphill task. Their performance at the qualifier round has shown that both the contenders are keen to improve their position in professional events, and they appear to be in high spirits.
Casi kicked off the match with heaps of confidence but was a bit troubled by rough weather conditions as the rain made it hard to make calculated putts on the greens.
Speaking to the media at the end of the round, Casi said that she was confident when she started the tournament and managed to shoot a 69. However, she added, rain troubled most of the players. She went on to say that the greens were big enough, making it real hard to stay focused.
“It isn't so much the tee shots. You have to keep it in the fairway," the Ohio native said.
Neuhauser, who displayed a stunning performance, said while speaking to the media that she was satisfied with what she did in the final moments. Former Virginia University golfer got into an intense battle against Sue Kim and Tracy Stanford, but subdued both her rivals in playoff.
Sharing her thoughts about her performance, Virginia native said she knew that the only thing that would help her stay ahead of the roster was focus on the ball. She said she avoided making too many mistakes, which proved beneficial for her.
