Two players sign new contract at Bath Rugby – Rugby News Update
The Bath Rugby club has retained the services of winger Tom Biggs and scrum-half Mark McMillan before the end of the current season. Biggs has signed a two year extension, while McMillan will stay with the club till the end of next season.
Speaking after signing a contract extension, Biggs was in a jovial mood and said that it was an easy decision for him to make. He said, "It was an easy decision to extend my contract." He further added, "I feel my game has really developed at Bath and I'm
enjoying the style of rugby we're looking to play. There is a lot of ambition here and a lot more to come from us, and I'm really looking forward to being part of everything."
Bath play a tricky fixture against the Leicester Tigers this Saturday, which will be the last game of the season for the team, in a campaign that can only be described as disappointed. Their coach, Sir Ian McGeechan will stand in his last match as coach,
as he is leaving the side at the end of the season.
One person who will still be at Bath from the coaching staff will be the first team coach, Brad Davis. On the extension of the contracts he said, "Both Tom and Mark are exactly the kind of player we want here...”. He also added that both these players are
influential and the sort of players Bath needs to have.
He commented on their ability, “They contribute a lot both on and off the field and around the club, and we're looking forward to seeing them contribute even more over the coming seasons."
Both players joined Bath in 2010. The 27-year-old Biggs has previously played for Leeds Carnegie and the Newcastle Falcons. In the two years with Bath, he has so far played 36 games, starting 33 of those.
McMillan was teammates with Biggs at Leeds Carnegie and then the 28-year-old joined the London Wasps. In his two seasons with Bath, the scrum-half has played 22 matches, but he has only started 2 of those games.
