Question:

Two questions about rugby union laws?

1. Does a kick from a 22m restart have to travel 10 meters, like a kickoff from midfield?

2. Can someone explain the 10m law to me? I know it involves players who are offside, but I can't quite grasp the concept.

Thanks. I'm still learning the game.

  1. 1.No the ball does not have to travel ten meters. A drop-out from the 22 may be taken anywhere along or behind the line. If the kick is taken from behind the line, then it must cross the line.An opposing player may attempt to charge the kick down, but must not cross the line in attempting to do so.

2.(a) A player who is in an off-side position may not remain within ten meters of an opponent who is waiting to receive the ball from a kick, he must retire towards his own goal-line.

         (b) Players who are not participating in a line-out must remain ten meters from the line of touch until the line-out is over.

  2. Q1 the answer is no. It only has to cross the 22m line and it must be a drop-kick.

A lot of teams try to maintain possession by taking a 'tiny' drop-kick the only travels a few cm.

As for Q2, I'm not sure what you mean by the 10m rule so no answer their. Sorry.

  3. no a kick frm a 22 mtr can go as far or short as you like, as long as it goes past hte 22 m line and not into the oppositions dead ball area, this will result in a scrum on your own 22

the 10 m law i when you restart the game after a score and drop kick the ball, the ball has to travel at least to the 10 m line or it is a scrum on the hlafway, also if your players are in front of the kicker when they kick it advantage will be played for offside
