Question:

Two races in one day?

On May 20th, I'm doing this Best of the Best thing at school where the top 5 girls compete in the mile. This is in the morning, around 8:00 to 9:00.

Around 5:30 to 8:30, I will be participating in a mile race for 13 and 14 (I'm 13) year old girls for the whole county. I'm also doing long standing jump. Do you think I could do another race-maybe, the 400? The shortest one after that is the 200, then they've got 100 and 50 meters. I may do the softball throw, too-though I'm not too good at it.

Do you think I could manage 2 competitive miles in one day, and do a 400? I'm not much of a sprinter, but I was sprinting the other day, and someone said I was fast, even though I'm better at long distance.

Also, how can I train for these?

  1. you have plenty of time, i do the 2 mile and then the mile and if you want to do another race also you should be ok as long as you have about an hour at least between races unless the sprint is after both miles because after running the 2 mile i frequently run in the 4x400m relay 10 minutes later

  2. Yes, lots of people race 2 - 1 mile races in one day, and lots of distance runners do a 2 mile and then a 1 mile.

If you have plenty of time to recover it will not affect your times.

If you have 20 minutes to rest after the 400 you will be fine.

  3. i think you'll do fine-  i run the 3200 and the 1600 in some meets and i'm fine.
