  1. High competiton between species - many species are competing for limited nutrients, so as a result, all nutrients are taken up an put into plant (animal) growth as soon as they are available.

High humidity (as a result of high temperature and rainfall) leads to rapid decomposition, so dead material spends a short time as unuseable litter and decomposes quickly to become utilisable humus, thus higher productivity.

  2. first reason is that a tropical rainforest (TRF) receives more sunlight than a temperate forest. more sunlight = more energy for production

second reason is that the tropics have higher liquid precipitation than in temperate countries, so water is not a limiting factor. more water = more nutrients are taken up

And because  in a TRF these 2 factors are fairly evenly distributed throughout the year, there are no pauses in the growth process unlike during winter in the temperate zones when everything slows down.

Another 2ndary factor to the warm weather and high humidity is that organic material decomposes much faster in the trf so this ecosystem never lacks for nutrients.
