Two reserve days added for the remaining ODIs between Sri Lanka and Pakistan – Cricket News Update
Following the abandonment of the third ODI due to rain, Sri Lankan Cricket Board has decided to add two reserve days for the remaining matches between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and Pakistan.
Conditions in the region have become bleaker as rain is forecasted for the final two ODIs, scheduled to be played at Colombo. With the series tied at one a piece, the Men in Green were concerned with a lack of competitive action and therefore had requested
the hosts to add reserve days.
Initially, it was decided that the final games could be shifted to a drier region, where Hambantota, the venue of the T20s, was mooted to be a preferred option. However, such idea was declined by the touring contingent owing to the hectic travelling.
“SLC have asked us if we are okay with moving the matches away from Colmobo ,” http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket team’s manager Naveed Akram Cheema revealed to Dawn News.
Galle was also being considered as a viable destination but was rejected as the ground cannot host a day-night encounter. Finally the SLC has decided to add two reserve days, ensuring that the series bears a result.
"The next two ODIs will have reserve days," http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nishantha-Ranatunga-c79713, the SLC secretary, told ESPNcricinfo. "There was a plan to shift the games to Hambantota, as it was the only area not experiencing rain at the moment, but due to logistical issues we had to
drop it."
The series is currently well poised at one a piece after the Men in Green took honours in the first game, winning it by five wickets. However, that match was also halted by rain and was eventually reduced to 42-over a side.
The second game was a full fifty-over game, won by the hosts. The third ODI however, was washed out after rain interrupted twice between the first 7 overs, wrapping up the proceedings with the Men in Green standing 12 for 2 down.
The fourth ODI will be played tomorrow, followed by the final game on June 18th. Following the conclusion, both teams will clash in a three- match Test series, starting from June 22.
